Dream Job..

I was fortunate enough to have had a humble beginning to my tech career. It was with one of India’s best corporate groups on the 24th of June 2013 soon after i graduated college. I switched twice from there to where I am now. Little did I know back then, that I would be here. But it was always the target. That said, I am happy to have achieved what I intended to. Let me stop the self-boasting here and get to the point. After all, you are here for a read-worthy material and my biography is definitely not one πŸ™‚

Neither the stature of my employer nor the pay scale makes it my dream job. I have not known anything else apart from what my employer does, since the beginning and I dint want to expand my horizon either, which obviously made it my dream job. I was always engaged with at-least one of their products someway or the other. For the first one and a half years of my career, I remained a novice. It was my, then mentors, to whom I am grateful till date by the way, made me realize the importance of technology that I had my hands on.

I just wanted to take this space to share with you all how fortunate have I been, to be sharing my workplace alongside a lot of tech legends, whilst being part of a young and vibrant team. In another 6 days, I would have completed my 2 year stint here. Hell yeah, time flies by!

Right from day 1, things were on its course. Laptop/badge handed over, induction done, all within half a day! For the 5 years, I have had work exposure to, this was fairly the best ever induction process that I was a part of. Fast forward a week, I am at a completely strange place that I never thought I would be in. While it did fascinate (and still does!) a lot of em that I know, when they heard about this place that I was going to, I still wasn’t convinced enough and took it up only for it was my career target all way along since the beginning. Better try than regret, right?

Me during my first weekend in Mumbai enhancing my photographic skills

A place where I knew no one, a language that I barely knew, a culture that I was less exposed to – Still, I was up for the challenge on the ever crowded streets of Mumbai. With me being in a field role, I had to juggle between customer locations and that did put an end to my career-long (till then) monotonous routine. Yes, I call it a brownie point. Will you? πŸ™‚

Getting in to the specifics of my work will bring in a lot of jargon’s to y’all and so let’s keep it to this being a really good customer facing role and I had no problems dealing with it, except for a few hiccups that resulted from a potential conflict. I was taken good care of, though. Not only by whom I report to, but by everyone around me. The work culture that the company embraces truly left me astonished, which is also one of the reasons I wanted to pen this down. But I still couldn’t overcome my hatred for the place that I lived in… πŸ˜›

Fast forward a few more months, once I did settle into the job, it was time for me to gel along with my other team mates. Since we are all almost on the field every day with our customers, we don’t get a lot of time for ourselves. So, the best opportunity was for us to make use of the weekend during our company-wide annual sales meeting. More to it, the destination was Las Vegas. It was only by this time, I fully understood how fortunate have I been πŸ™‚ Like every other employee, an international trip did excite me! I am sure, it could have been, by far, the happiest week for all of us! (at-least for me. Can’t speak for them right?)

Few from the team πŸ™‚

Apart from clearing paychecks, a workplace has got a lot more to offer and one of which is creating an impact. There are many other reasons as to why my current employer will always remain special to me. (Can’t be a dream anymore, now that I am here) I can even do a series of blogs about what it has to offer and what makes it so special. I hope to have many more years here unless and until they find me unfit πŸ™‚

On another note, while this pandemic has tied us down to our knees, there are other positive turnarounds like less polluted roads and reduction in littering to name a few. This too shall pass. Let’s stay away from each other for a while to stick together later. And most importantly, follow your dreams when you are back on foot… Stay Safe. Stay Home. πŸ™‚

I will catch up with y’all as soon as I find something else to rant about… πŸ˜€

  4. Time flies in this company and especially in this role! Best part is you never feel like you are going to regret the time spent in knowing the people or the technology.

Mumbai too has lots to offer and their ain’t many cities that accept you with open arms. Maybe a second stint might change your thought πŸ˜‰
