Childhood..

Kids. They bring out a lot of life in everyone around them. Who wouldn’t want a kid? I am sure there are people who beg to differ. Of course, there are two sides to a coin, as always!! This is definitely not an attempt to convince them or that I care, but to relive certain aspects of childhood and see if y’all can relate.

Born in the early 90’s, I fall under a category of delusionists who still claim, they are kids! Duh. Seriously, stay away from social media!

Between playing Super Mario/Contra on Video Gaming consoles and PUBG/COD on a smartphone, we all have grown up. There are many such analogies that can be drawn to emphasize what technology has done to us. Speaking of which, we have lived with and without it. And honestly, while we enjoy the perks of living a technologically advanced life, we, for sure, are missing out on a hell lot of things!!!

I can’t remember the last time I saw kids playing on the streets. In this smartphone era, kids have become used to the Ludo app more than anything else that really matters. Not that I am against it, but are we realizing what are we missing out on? The friends I made, the interactions I had were all prior to the Facebook era. The point being, we hardly interact with each other face-to-face. These days we are comfortable texting than talking, of which, I am a classic example. If introverts are on the rise today, a major chunk of its cause would be attributed to technology!

Talking about fantasies, mine was to own an island. Definitely not the Nithyananda types, but something more natural and scenic. Eventually, I gave up on it. Thinking about it now, I regret not having such fantasies. It has come to a point where checking the probability of it happening has become more important than actually wanting it. You can’t just set your heart out onto something like you did when you were a kid. That’s what I miss the most about my childhood. What do you miss?

The next best thing about being a kid is that you have the privilege to be care-free! The biggest decision that you may have made could be the game you were going to play that night? Life was much easier for a kid. Isn’t it? And I was no exception!

Such a bad poser I was 🙁

This isn’t just about me. I would have been extremely depressed one moment and suddenly happy the next, when i see some random kid smile at me. That’s just the kind of power that little bundle of joy has. Positivity! If we are to believe in god’s boon, I so wish i could travel back in time only to be a kid and lead a care free, happy life!

One should never let the kid in themselves die. I am sure, everyone would love to go back only to relish the fond memories they have of their childhood, given a chance.

Let us hope they find a time machine soon 🙂 Stay Safe, Stay indoors!
